The Clerk's Office has created a free online records database containing various records for you to conveniently search.
The Official Records Division includes recording, public search, and marriage/passport offices. Many types of documents are recorded in the Clerk's Office. Mortgages, deeds, assignments, leases, agreements, notices, claims of liens, satisfactions and other instruments relating to the ownership, transfer, or encumbrance of claims against real or personal property or any interest therein are examples. Other documents recorded are court documents, declaration of domicile, military service documents, and federal instruments. This office also serves as a collection agent for the Florida Department of Revenue. It is the duty of this office to collect the required documentary and intangible taxes on documents such as deeds and mortgages.
Any "affected person" may request that the Clerk of Court/Comptroller or County Recorder remove an image of one of the above-listed documents from a "publicly available Internet website." This request must be in writing and may be delivered in person, by mail, electronically, or by facsimile. |
